Quick answer: to put IPTV on Android TV or Google TV:
- Open Google Play and install TiviMate IPTV Player.
- Open it and choose Add playlist > Xtream Codes.
- Enter the server URL, username and password from your Elitnes welcome message.
- Confirm, wait for the TV guide to load and start watching.
What you need before you start
- An Android TV or Google TV device: a smart TV, Nvidia Shield, Chromecast with Google TV, Formuler or another Android box.
- A Google account signed in on the device, so you can use Google Play.
- Your Elitnes login, which we send on WhatsApp after you choose a plan or start a free trial.
- Internet of at least 10 Mbps for HD or 25 Mbps for 4K.
Set up IPTV from Google Play (easiest)
Install TiviMate from Google Play
Open Google Play (on Google TV, go to Apps and search). Search for TiviMate, select TiviMate IPTV Player and choose Install.
Add a playlist
Open TiviMate and select Add playlist, then choose Xtream Codes.
Enter your Elitnes login
Type the server address, username and password exactly as we sent them and select Next. TiviMate checks the login and shows how many channels, films and series it found.
Finish and load the TV guide
Give the playlist a name, select Done and wait while the TV guide (EPG) downloads. Then press OK on any channel to start watching, and long-press to add favourites.
Installing a player that isn’t on Google Play
If we recommend a player that isn’t in Google Play in your region, you can install it with the free Downloader app, just like on a Firestick:
Install Downloader
Search Google Play for Downloader by AFTVnews and install it.
Allow it to install apps
Go to Settings > Apps > Security & restrictions > Unknown sources and switch Downloader on. On Google TV, first turn on developer mode: Settings > System > About, then select Android TV OS build seven times. Menu names vary a little between brands.
Download the player
Open Downloader, enter the code we send you, then select Install. Sign in with Xtream Codes as above.
Best IPTV apps for Android TV and Android boxes
| App | Best for | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| TiviMate | A fast, cable-style TV guide with favourites and catch-up | Free, with an optional paid Premium upgrade |
| IPTV Smarters Pro | Simple menus with separate Live TV, Films and Series sections | Free |
| OTT Navigator | People who like to customise layouts and guides | Free, with optional paid features |
All three work with Xtream Codes and M3U logins. Third-party apps can change their prices and features, so check the store listing before paying for an upgrade.
Tips for Android TV and Android boxes
- Use Ethernet on boxes and the Nvidia Shield – most have a network port.
- Avoid very cheap unbranded boxes with old Android versions. They often struggle with 4K and with large TV guides.
- Keep apps updated in Google Play, and restart the box once a week.
- Clear the player’s cache if it slows down: Settings > Apps, select the app, then Clear cache.
Common Android TV IPTV problems and fixes
“Your device isn’t compatible with this version”
That app is made for phones, not TVs. Search for a TV version, or use TiviMate, which is built for Android TV.
The TV guide is empty
In TiviMate, open Settings > EPG and choose Update EPG. The first download can take a few minutes on a large playlist.
Buffering during live sport
Switch to Ethernet, restart the router and box, and see our IPTV troubleshooting guide.
Android TV IPTV FAQ
Do I need TiviMate Premium?
No. The free version is enough to watch your Elitnes channels. Premium adds extra features for heavy users; it is sold by the app developer, not by us.
Is an Android box better than a Firestick?
A good Android box or Nvidia Shield usually has more storage, an Ethernet port and Google Play. A Firestick is cheaper and simpler. Both work well with Elitnes – see our Firestick guide.
Does this work on Sony, Philips, TCL and Hisense TVs?
Yes, if the TV runs Android TV or Google TV – check for Google Play in the TV’s apps. Hisense TVs with VIDAA OS work differently; use a Firestick with those.
Can I record programmes?
Some players offer recording on Android, usually as a paid feature, and you need enough storage. Catch-up on supported channels is often the easier option.
